Undergraduate Research in Biology

Undergraduates students working in world renowned research groups in the school have contributed to research that has been presented at national and international conferences, and published in leading scholarly journals. Research in the School of Biology explores the following areas:

• Molecular and Cell Biology – molecular evolutionary ecology, epigenomics, molecular responses to environmental threats, pathophysiology, molecular genetics

• Computational Biology and Systems Biology –DNA and protein sequence analysis, comparative genomic analysis, structure analysis

• Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior - aquatic chemical ecology, biological oceanography, theoretical ecology, and evolutionary developmental biology

Internship opportunities exist with Zoo Atlanta, VWR, Georgia Tech Research Institute, Georgia Tech Environmental Health & Safety, the Center for Disease Control, Caprico BioTechnologies, the Army Defense Forensic Science Center, and more organizations in the Atlanta area.
